Scope of Services

The NH Sigonella Laboratory offers a full spectrum of anatomic pathologyclinical pathology, and blood bank services to all eligible beneficiaries. We proudly serve as a Center of Excellence, providing direct laboratory support to the fleet and joint force. Our Inpatient Laboratory operates 24/7, ensuring continuous, responsive care aligned with patient needs.
Our Blood Bank and Blood Depot maintain a readily available supply of essential blood components to support both inpatient and outpatient care. We also contribute to the broader mission of the Navy Blood Program and the Armed Services Blood Program, reinforcing readiness and response capabilities.
We are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) and licensed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)—ensuring the highest standards in laboratory medicine.

    Open Monday through Friday, during designated hours.
    Closed on weekends and federal holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long does it take to receive test results?
Most test results are available within 24 hours of sample collection, though some specialized tests may take several days to weeks. Results are sent directly to your ordering healthcare provider. You may also view some results via the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.
2. How can I obtain a copy of my lab results?
By law, the laboratory can only release results to licensed healthcare providers. To access your results:
  • Contact your healthcare provider directly.
  • Use the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.
  • Request a copy from the Outpatient Medical Records Department.

3. Can the Laboratory interpret my test results?
No. Interpretation of lab results must be done by your healthcare provider, who will consider your medical history, physical exam, and other relevant tests.
4. Are my test results confidential?
Yes. All patient information and test results are handled in accordance with federal privacy regulations. Results are only disclosed to authorized personnel or your ordering provider.
5. What should I do if my provider orders a fasting test?
For fasting tests, avoid eating or drinking anything (except water or prescribed medications) for 12 hours prior to your appointment.
6. What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring a valid military or dependent ID card.
