Radiology
The Radiology Department at U.S. Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command Sigonella’s mission is to provide safe and high quality imaging in the clinical support of patient care. Our available services include x-ray,
fluoroscopy, computed tomography, and ultrasound at the main hospital.
Scope of Care:
The Radiology Department offers a limited range of routine, urgent, and emergent diagnostic imaging services to include:
General Diagnostic Radiography
- Bone or Chest X-ray
- Scoliosis Survey
- Orthopedic Radiography
- Portable Radiography
General Diagnostic Ultrasound
- Right upper quadrant
- Abdominal / pelvic
- Genitourinary
- Thyroid
- Superficial lesions
- Musculoskeletal
- Upper & lower extremity venous studies
- Saline-infused sonohysterogram (SIS), in conjunction with OB/GYN
- Ultrasound-guided injections and biopsies
- Pediatric, limited
Fluoroscopy
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic hip and shoulder joint injections
- Hysterosalpingography (HSG), in conjunction with OB/GYN
- Barium Studies such as Esophagram & Upper GI
General Computed Tomography (CT)
- With and without contrast
- CT angiography
- Low dose lung cancer screening
Women’s Imaging (most breast imaging is deferred to the network)
Coverage:
State-of-the-art equipment and networking capabilities extends general diagnostic radiography coverage to U.S. Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Unit Bahrain.
Visitor/Child Policy:
According to radiation safety guidelines, to reduce your risk of radiation exposure, guests are not usually permitted in examination rooms during procedures, however one adult family member may accompany a minor child during a procedure. Please do not bring small children unless you have another adult who can watch them.
Images and Results:
- Results are available via ordering provider or PCM
- Results are also available through the MHS Genesis Patient Portal
- Images may be requested on CD in person at the radiology department and will be available within 24 hours
